Marinas To Feel The COVID-19 Meltdown

The Tyrell Bay and Carriacou Marinas are expected to feel an early hit from the normal upsurge in their business at the start of the annual Atlantic Hurricane Season. Boats particularly yachts have over the years have sought shelter at the two marinas located in the sheltered Tyrell Bay area. The expected decline will be as a result of Covid-19 since this country’s borders are expected to remain closed for some time as one of the measures to reduce any potential importation and spread of the deadly virus.  The influx of the boats at both boatyards has always brought a boost to the local economy as the visitors patronize other business establishments while ensuring that their crafts are safe.

The prediction for the June 1 to November 30 Atlantic Hurricane Season is for 18 named storms, nine hurricanes and four major hurricanes. This is more intense that the 30-year normalized average, which shows 13 named storms, seven hurricanes and three major hurricanes
