A well-known Grand Anse Bus operator who appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Teddy St Louis on Tuesday at the St. Georges Magistrate Court on four counts of sex-related charges, has been granted bail.
Ruddell James alias (J.J) who hail from the village of Park Estate in St Georges, was granted bail in the sum of $30,000.00 with two sureties, part of the conditions for securing bail, was that he must have no contact with the complainant, these include physical or via social media.
James who had no legal representation during his brief stint at the court on Tuesday appeared on four counts of Sexual Intercourse with a Minor above the age of thirteen but under the age of sixteen.
According to information reaching the Grenada Informer, it is alleged that the incidents arose out of a long-standing relationship between the bus driver and the victim spanning over one year. Sources close to the victim’s family said the situation only came to light when a friend of the victim leaked the information to the victim’s mother, affirming that the friendship was a lot more than genuine concern because of the frequent rides to and from school given to the young lady by the driver. The police were called in, and the victim was questioned and charges subsequently laid against the bus driver.
James is believed to be the son of a prominent public figure and is expected to make his second court appearance on July 17th 2020.
